James Martin Campaign Responds to Brian Mast Discouraging Debates

HOBE SOUND — Following a well-attended, untelevised candidate forum hosted by Florida180 in Palm Beach Gardens on Sunday, March 22, Brian Mast showed his support for the one candidate that didn’t participate in the forum, Pia Dandiya, and voiced his vexation with public debates. Mast shared on X:

“I talk to people in our community every day and have held dozens upon dozens of town halls and forums. I agree with @PiaforCongress that staged debates aren’t a useful part of the campaign process anymore. I’d rather talk to actual voters than perform for a moderator to boost TV ratings or social media views.”

One of the top complaints heard in Florida's 21st Congressional District is that incumbent, Brian Mast, does not face his constituents nearly enough, and it is telling that he is encouraging candidates to skip candidate forums and public debates in the Democratic primary to unseat him. James Martin strongly believes in the power of the democratic process, and that forums and debates are a crucial part of selecting the best candidate to face Republican incumbent Brian Mast come November.

“If you’re the best candidate who can help Floridians from rising costs and are ready to create policies that increase prosperity, then prove it,” Martin responds.

Brian Mast constantly ducks his constituents because he does not want to be held accountable for: skyrocketing costs, a war of choice, stripping healthcare from thousands along with many of the other unpopular policies of the Trump administration that he cheerleads daily. James Martin formally invites Brian Mast to participate in a public debate so that constituents can have the ability to choose for themselves who they think the best candidate is to represent the Treasure Coast.
