James Martin for Congress Unveils Anti-Corruption Policy Platform, “Ending Insider Privilege”
HOBE SOUND — Today, the James Martin for Congress campaign announced “Ending Insider Privilege,” a sweeping anti-corruption platform designed to restore public trust and stop senior federal officials from profiting off their positions. The package directly targets the ability of Members of Congress and executive officials to enrich themselves while in office.
Ban individual stock trading, trading crypto currency, or participating in speculative betting markets by the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, Executive Branch appointees, Supreme Court Justices, and their immediate family members.
Lifetime Ban on serving as registered lobbyists for Members of Congress and their immediate family members.
Ban on accepting personal gifts of more than $20 by the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, Executive Branch appointees, and Supreme Court Justices.
Constitutional Amendment overturning the Citizens United decision, banning the unlimited spending of dark money by corporations and individuals.
Block pay for Members of Congress during government shutdowns.
Establish term limits for Members of Congress.
Limit Presidential pardon powers.
“In Florida’s 21st District, people work hard, play by the rules, and expect their leaders to serve with integrity not cater to the wealthy few,” said James Martin. “Members of Congress are not above the people they serve. Public service comes with responsibility, not special privileges. If we want to end corruption and restore trust in our government, then we must end insider privilege and put the public first. I welcome every candidate, including Brian Mast, in this race to join me in taking this pledge.”
